JPIMedia launches its digital expansion with the creation of 22 new jobs

More than 20 new jobs, including senior editorial roles, are being created as part of a regional publisher’s bid to expand its digital offering.

JPIMedia has unveiled four editor positions among 22 new jobs as it seeks to invest in areas including digital newsletters, search engine optimization, trending news and football news.

Many roles are flexible, although some are located in Edinburgh, Leeds and Sheffield.

A newsletter editor, group SEO editor, football content editor and group live trending editor are among the roles sought under the plan.

Steven Chisholm, JPI Group Editor, told HTFP: “We are investing in digital talent as we seek to leverage our growing audience, create the best possible content for our loyal audience and grow the next phase of our digital strategy.

“It’s an exciting time to join us.

“We launched last year and it is already the largest site in our network in terms of audience, we have launched new websites in markets such as London, Manchester and Bristol and we We’ve been experimenting with new ways to add value in our reader revenue models with more premium content and additional subscription benefits for our customers.

The move comes after rival publisher Reach plc announced the launch of a regional “newsletters-first” strategy in November.

At JPI, the newsletter editor will be responsible for overseeing the company’s strategy on this issue and will be supported by two newsletter journalists.

The Football Content Editor will be supported by two Football Editors, while the Group SEO Editor will oversee the work of four SEO Editors.

A new Group Live Trends Editor and Senior Live News Editor are also being recruited, to be based in Edinburgh, Leeds or Sheffield.

Nine live trending news writers will also be recruited – three in each of these cities.
